The Austin Eagles is a group of Crystal Palace F.C. fans in Austin, Texas who like to stand out from the crowd and support the biggest soccer club in South London today. We meet at a bar Saturday morning for most of the games, drink beer and eat meat. The club now consists of around 30 members with more to come.
The Austin Eagles was formed just after Christmas 2014, mid way through the 2014/5 Premier League season. According to their website, the formation of the group and the start of Crystal Palace’s vastly improved fortunes during that campaign were apparently “not entirely without coincidence”, a claim backed up by a helpful chart showing Palace’s league position around that time period. *
* Sacking Neil Warnock and appointing Alan Pardew as his replacement may also have had something to do with it.
